Welcome to Steele Taekwon-do

Canberra's all-ages, all ability self defence academy.
We are dedicated to providing a fun and safe environment for our students to learn ITF Taekwon-do with experienced and qualified instructors. Steele Taekwon-do manages two ITF clubs in Canberra. Cho-Son Taekwon-do & Choong-Moo Taekwon-do. What is Taekwon-do? Taekwon-do is a relatively new martial art, developed for the South Korean army by the late General Choi Hong Hi, and first introduced to the public in 1955. General Choi was a firm believer in the qualities of justice, humanity and charity, and he considered it vital to nourish the mind as well as the body. He longed for a peaceful society, in which the strong were prevented from preying on the weak. Taekwon-do aims to cultivate mind and character; to develop personal and physical qualities; to strengthen and tone the body, and to exhibit graceful techniques. It is designed to maximise potential in terms of speed, strength and flexibility. Taekwon-do is a well-rounded activity that provides students with an effective means of self-defence, while also allowing them to attain a high level of physical fitness and well-being, and helping them to develop the personal qualities of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. Children, especially, derive huge benefits from their involvement in Taekwon-do, including improved levels of concentration in their schoolwork; increased levels of self-confidence; a healthier approach to diet and exercise, and a heightened awareness of what it means to be a responsible member of society and show humility and respect for others. |
